Sam Dubois (they/them) is a Postgraduate Researcher at Birmingham City University. Their thesis focuses on the themes of visuality and surveillance in the post-9/11 American horror film – using the methodology of surveillance studies to show how sundry texts form a coherent and creative engagement with the politics of a changing media landscape. Their other research interests involve the application of queer theory to visual media, Czech and Korean cinema, and the representation of national trauma in film. They are a member of the Gender and Sexuality and Cultural Activism & Alternative Politics clusters within BCMCR.
