By John Mercer on April 23rd, 2014

Conference at University of Sunderland, London Campus 23rd & 24th April.

Organised by Screen Cultures associate Mark McKenna (Sunderland) with Alessandra Mondin, the conference considers the consequences of the 1984 Video Recordings Act and its enduring impact on attitudes to censorship in the UK. Oliver Carter and John Mercer are also presenting papers and chairing panels.

Over two days the conference has guest speakers including the production team of Channel Four’s After Dark talk show, David Cooke the Director of the BBFC and keynote addresses from Prof Martin Barker, Prof Julian Petley and Professor Clarissa Smith.
