Dr Will McKeown is a lecturer in media with research interests in gaming, ecocriticism, horror media, representations of self-sacrifice and apocalypse narratives. In his current work, Will is exploring the use of Deleuze and Guattari’s concept of geophilosophy as a means understanding the relationship between virtual worlds in gaming and ecocriticism. His PhD explored the representation of self-sacrifice in zombie films, series and video games in the context of neoliberalism and was awarded in 2021 at the University of Birmingham.
