Funmi Jinadu is a Lecturer in Broadcast Journalism at the Birmingham School of English and Media. Funmi’s research is centred around media representation and postcolonial perspectives. Her interests also involve using critical discourse analysis and corpus linguistics methods for journalism research. She has just recently completed a PhD in journalism at the University of Limerick, Limerick, Ireland. Funmi has worked on across digital and broadcast media platforms and has many years of experience as a radio journalist in Nigeria and the UK. She has an MA in broadcast journalism from the University of the West of England, Bristol where she also worked at the local BBC radio station, BBC Radio Bristol and community radio station, Ujima Radio. She also had a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Babcock University, Nigeria. She headed the news department in two start-up radio stations in Nigeria helping them build from the ground up and has anchored many radio shows on current affairs, news, entertainment and lifestyle. She is currently an external examiner at NLA University, Norway.
