In the first of four planned BCMCR Research Seminars dedicated to the centre’s annual theme, Craig Hamilton will be offering an overview of the 2021-22 theme, Disruption.

Opening the session will be BCMCR director, Nick Gebhardt, who will welcome colleagues to the new academic year with an overview of recent successes, and plans and activities for the coming year. There will also be time to hear briefly from each of the Research Cluster Leads about their existing and planned work for the coming year. The session will also provide an opportunity to welcome new PhD students to the centre.

In providing his overview of the Disruption theme, Craig Hamilton will present his initial framing of the theme as it relates to centre activities. Specifically, he will invite colleagues to consider how disruption can be used as a lens to consider: how we work as researchers; the structures in which we collectively and individually operate; and what the theme may offer in terms of approaching questions and issues relevant to our respective disciplines. Craig will also provide some initial feedback and ideas he has received from centre colleagues, and details of the outputs and activities planned across the year. Following the overview, there will be an open discussion regarding the theme, with the opportunity for colleagues to respond with initial ideas and suggestions.
