This is a 2 day event - Friday 14th January (9.30am - 7pm) and Saturday 15th January (9.30am - 5pm).

Mixed Bill’s Comedy in Crisis Conference will take place on 14th and 15th January 2022 at Birmingham City University.

This two day conference will creatively explore how comedy adapts and engages with times of crisis. The event will include keynote addresses from Dr Kavyta Raghunandan (Leeds Beckett University) on Comedy and the Crises of Racial Injustice, and Dr Helen Davies (University of Wolverhampton) on Comedy as a Coping Mechanism During the Pandemic, as well as an industry panel co-convened with BCU’s Sir Lenny Henry Centre for Media Diversity.

The conference panels will include speakers from across the UK and Europe and cover the following areas:

• Comedy and Identity Crises

• Comedy and Mental Health Crises

• Online Comedy Cultures During the Pandemic

• Comic Media Responses to Crisis

• Comedy and Political Crises
